Justice League

There I was, hoping that after Wonder Woman, DC would give us something up there with Marvel’s Avengers films. They didn’t. Once again, they (Warner Brothers I guess) return to the normal DC run-of-the-mill super hero films. What a missed opportunity.

As you can tell, I was not blown away by Justice League but it is not bad, just nothing special. There are a couple of laughs to be had (mainly from the Flash) and the odd good fight scene (particularly at the beginning) but somehow it doesn’t all mesh together properly. The baddie is a bit lame as well.

Normally, the best bit about a super hero ensemble is the hero’s coming together, it isn’t with Justice League, it’s just a bit boring but I can’t put my finger on exactly why (at least Aquaman was different). I also found that a few scenes left me wondering how that occurred or, that doesn’t make sense, or, why would someone do that. As a whole the plot details did not always add up. Talking about plot, it’s a bit of a let down as it’s far from original and felt more like a set-up for sequels.

The positives were; it moved along quickly, Gal Gadot is still great as Wonder Woman (although she wasn’t as much of a focus point as I was expecting) and Khal Drogo Jason Momoa showed glimpses of potential as Aquaman. I’ve read that a lot of people liked Ezra Miller as The Flash but I wasn’t that impressed with him. I thought he was just a bit too nerdy and, well, useless (not that fast either!).

Verdict: Bit of a let down really as Justice League struggles and fails to rise above mediocrity. Another DC miss. I’m praying they step-up for the sequel.
