Sausage Party

Sausage Party is one bonkers film. Very original but not what I was expecting at all.

It’s an animated tale of a sausage and his food stuff friends who are in a grocery store and dream of being selected and taken away to the big beyond. I can’t really describe what happens after that but it involves plenty of swearing, religious parodies and food sex………some of which has to be seen to be believed.

It felt very much like a Seth Rogen film, with drug use and crude comedy mixed with a feel good factor. It moved very fast, too fast sometimes as you couldn’t keep up with the quick fire jokes. I think it would be a good film to see a second time as I’m sure there were clever bits I didn’t have time to appreciate.

As a comedy, I judge it on how much I laughed and although I did snicker here and there, I did not laugh out loud; I was more surprised than anything (the last 10 to 15 minutes actually left me speechless).

And just in case you haven’t realised from the above, this is not one for the kids.

Verdict: A really clever idea that gets a bit out of hand to the point where it’s shocking rather than amusing.

  • Very Original and Clever

  • No Laugh out Load Moments
  • Coudn't follow all the jokes
